Boy Scout Troop 44... Character Building since 1913.
Troop 44 has been in existence for the past 99+ years serving young men in the Van Alstyne community. Troop 44 is the 3rd oldest troop in Texas and the 5th oldest troop in the nation.
Our church has enjoyed a relationship with Troop 44 dating back to 1917. We are currently the Troop's sponsor. The Troop is a boy-run organization made up of several patrols. Leaders of each patrol form the Patrol Leaders Council. Scoutmasters function as mentors and counselors to the leaders. The Troop's activities include weekly meetings, monthly outings and a range of service projects.
Troop 44 currently has thirty young men in the Troop, ranging in age from 11 to 18.
The Troop meets once a week on Tuesdays, 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at the Scout Hut. The Scout Hut is located at 183 Grays Trail in Van Alstyne. Click for Directions to Hut.
In 1913, Boy Scout Troop 1 (changed in the 1940s to Troop 44) in Van Alstyne received its charter.
Troop 44 is supported through donations. "Friends of Troop 44" is a local organization that helps with fund raising to support the Troop's activities. Anyone can participate and help in this effort.
Boy Scout Troop 44 lives by the Scout Oath and Law, its core belief in service to God, country and family and by its guiding principle that "scouting is a game with purpose". For more information about the Troop's activities, experiences and what it is doing in the community, please visit the Troop 44 web site.

What is UMYF?
UMYF stands for United Methodist Youth Fellowship.
On Sundays at UMYF, you can expect to enjoy food, fun, and fellowship. UMYF involves a lesson from scripture, great food, and fun games. We play everything from volleyball, basketball, Catch Phrase, and a FUMC Van Alstyne special game called GROG. On Wednesday evenings join us for P.U.S.H!
What is Our Youth program like?
Our youth program is like having brothers and sisters you didn't know you had. God has called us all to follow teachings set forth by Christ. In doing so we need to constantly seek out other individuals to be around, to be able to discuss and share our struggles with. The youth program at FUMC Van Alstyne is designed in such a way that you are able to come and build a relationship not only with your Heavenly Father, but other youth that you can count on when life doesn't work out the way you thought.
Who can participate?
All youth 7th-12th grade
What do we have to offer Jr. High/High School students?
Most of our events are together except for Sunday school. We do have special events throughout the year that focuses directly on Jr. High or Sr. High youth. These events are either a mission trip, camp out, Sunday fun event, or special bible studies.
When and where do we meet?
The Youth Lounge located upstairs in the Sanford Activity Center is our central meeting location; however, some events during the year require us to meet offsite.
What do our Youth do outside of church?
If we are not worshiping or fellowshipping together here at the church, we can be found participating on mission trips throughout the summer or serving our community through volunteer work. We also enjoy events like concerts, flag football, movies, swimming, and camping.
